Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre Delegation Discusses Opportunities for Cooperation and Exchange of Expertise in Hazardous Materials Management in Canada

 

A delegation from Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre visited Canada as part of its efforts to strengthen international cooperation and exchange expertise in hazardous materials data management, aiming to enhance national standards in line with global best practices.

The delegation was led by His Excellency Khalfan Abdullah Khalfan Almansoori, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre, and included several officials and specialized experts from the Centre. The visit, held in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, underscored the importance of exchanging knowledge and expertise with leading international institutions in the field of hazardous materials management.

The program included meetings with several key institutions in the energy and radioactive materials sectors, such as Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA). Discussions focused on benchmarking best practices in hazardous and radioactive materials data management, reviewing successful international experiences, and identifying opportunities for knowledge exchange to further enhance the Centre’s capabilities in developing effective policies and procedures.

His Excellency Khalfan Abdullah Khalfan Almansoori, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre, said: “This visit reflects our ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation and exchange expertise with leading institutions in hazardous materials data management. By learning from global experiences, we aim to develop an integrated national framework based on the highest safety standards to ensure the protection of the community and environment in Abu Dhabi, while advancing the UAE’s sustainability goals.”

The meetings with Canadian institutions also highlighted regulatory frameworks and programs related to hazardous and radioactive materials, aligning with the Centre’s strategic objectives. Both sides explored opportunities for future collaboration and joint initiatives to develop innovative solutions in this vital field.

 This visit forms part of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to enhance strategic partnerships and learn from leading international experiences in managing data related to hazardous and radioactive materials. It supports the development of an integrated national system that meets the highest international standards, contributes to community sustainability and environmental protection, and reaffirms the Centre’s commitment to implementing global best practices in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision for safety and sustainability.
