Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre received a delegation from the Government of Sharjah, headed by His Excellency Brigadier General Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naoor, during an official visit aimed at reviewing the integrated hazardous materials management system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and exploring opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of best practices among government entities.
The delegation was welcomed by His Excellency Khalfan Abdulla Almansoori, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre, along with several specialized staff members. The visit was coordinated with several strategic partners, including Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, Abu Dhabi Customs, Tadweer Group, and the Emergencies, Crisies and Disasters Management Centre - Abu Dhabi, all of whom contributed by presenting their respective roles within the hazardous materials management system in the emirate.
During the joint meeting, the Centre presented its operational and administrative systems, highlighting its key roles in legislation, regulation, monitoring, and compliance. The presentation outlined efforts to develop legislative and legal frameworks, as well as public policies related to hazardous materials management, ensuring coordination and integration between federal and local authorities, and alignment with international standards and agreements. The meeting also emphasized the regulatory frameworks, standards, and operational procedures for handling hazardous materials, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities across involved entities to ensure the highest levels of effectiveness and efficiency.
The visit included a presentation of the Centre’s most prominent ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the safe handling of hazardous materials, developing smart systems to support monitoring and control processes, and showcasing best practices adopted to promote a safe investment environment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
His Excellency Khalfan Abdulla Almansoori, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre, stated: "Cooperation and the exchange of expertise among the emirates of the country are key pillars in developing the national operational framework" emphasizing that the hazardous materials management system in Abu Dhabi is a fully integrated model based on clear legislative and legal frameworks aimed at protecting lives and property and promoting environmental sustainability. His Excellency welcomed the visit and highlighted the importance of ongoing joint coordination to enhance the UAE’s readiness in the field of hazardous materials management.
The Government of Sharjah's delegation praised the high level of readiness and professional operational framework demonstrated by Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre, commending its efforts to develop a comprehensive regulatory and operational system in line with best international standards. The delegation emphasized the importance of such visits in fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among government entities, reinforcing public safety principles and aligning with the aspirations of the United Arab Emirates.
